Welcome to the Burkevale Elementary School website.  This site will provide all the information you will need to get to know the “home of the bulldogs” better.  The interactive nature of this site allows Burkevale families the opportunity to more effectively participate in the education of their children.  The website is updated regularly to keep the Burkevale community informed of current and upcoming events.

Burkevale Protestant Separate School is a unique and dynamic learning environment, with a historic involvement in the Town of Penetanguishene, on the shore of Georgian Bay, in Ontario Canada, that dates back to the 19th century.  Its continued relevance is due to a successful partnership between a variety of stakeholders who work together in the best interest of the children.  The Burkevale staff is hard-working, caring and creative. The parents and guardians are actively involved as volunteers within the school, and on the School Council, which organizes a variety of events and fundraisers which enhance the school climate and provide funds for different educational activities and outings.  The School Board provides significant support to the staff and students at Burkevale, and individuals and organizations within the local community help enrich our school environment.

I am honoured to be the principal of Burkevale Protestant Separate School as we begin the 2009 – 2010 school year.  The staff and I encourage you to visit our school to offer volunteer services and to attend planned activities and events.  We look forward to your involvement in the learning process.  Together, we can make a difference!

Sincerely,

Tim Mallon, Principal

Welcome Back!
by Mr. Mallon - Saturday, 4 September 2010, 09:27 PM

Welcome back, everyone. I look forward to my third year as Burkevale’s principal, as it promises to be just as exciting as the previous two.

The late American philosopher and educational reformer, John Dewey, once said:

"Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself."

The staff at Burkevale are firm believers in this. The education that opens doors to life’s opportunities doesn’t just happen from 8:40am to 3:15pm, Monday to Friday. More than ever, our children have a greater chance to develop into productive, well adjusted citizens when there is a connection between the life lessons they learn at home and the ones they learn at school. Regular communication with your child’s teacher, usually via the agenda, will ensure that both groups work as a team to increase your child’s enjoyment of, and success at school.
